About Us
Grace Chapel's origins date back to the late 1800's, when a group of Christians held weekly meetings in a house in Closter, New Jersey. Subsequently, this assembly of believers moved their services to Tenafly, NJ, and in 1935, Grace Chapel was officially named and incorporated. An expansion of the Chapel at its current location was completed in 1954 with the construction of the main sanctuary, where our congregation meets for worship, praise, fellowship, learning, and service.
We are a non-denominational group of Bible-believing Christians who desire to worship and serve Jesus, our Lord and Savior. "...Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name" (John 20:31b). We seek to share the Spiritual truths which have given joy and true meaning to our lives. Therefore, we provide a full complement of services and meetings (see below). A special interest lies in our 9AM Sunday meeting, affectionately referred to as “The Lord’s Supper" (1 Cor.11:23-26).
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Grace Chapel stands as a witness to the historic Christian Faith. We believe:
The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for Christian believers for matters of faith and conduct.
God is the Creator and Governor of the universe. Jesus Christ, our Lord, is the Son of God from all eternity and the Savior of mankind. The Holy Spirit indwells, guides and comforts believers in this age.
Man was created in God’s image, but as a result of sin, all people need salvation. God dealt with the problem of sin at the cross. Therefore, each person accepting Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection on their own behalf is assured of eternal life.
The Church is composed of all who have trusted in Christ, and all believers are privileged to worship and to serve God as directed by the Bible and by the Holy Spirit.
